In April 16, 2014, a ferry named Sewol which means "˜beyond the world' sunk in South Sea of South Korea with 476 passengers en route from Incheon towards Jeju. 295 are dead, 172 are survived, 9 are still missing, and 246 among the dead are from Danwon high school. They were on a school trip to Jeju island. This is the worst disaster in the history of Korea.
The situation hasn't been changed even though the first anniversary of the disaster has passed. 10 days before the anniversary, the government passed the bill to reduce the size of investigation committee and announced compensation plan for victims without any consensus. Salvage work for the sunk ferry has never mentioned and so does for the missing people by the government. On the first anniversary day, victims' family and citizens for condolence had to confront 13,700 polices, 477 buses, tear gas spray and water cannons.
This is a documentary about death, despair, disintegration and hatred, and about a country sacrificed humanity and justice in the name of glorious economic development.
